Mapping Heliamphora Light Requirements

The problem

New Heliamphora pitchers were browning at the growth points. The usual suspects are light, humidity, and water quality — so I started by measuring light.

Method

  1. Logged PPFD at the canopy across the day.
  2. Stepped the photoperiod down in 30-minute increments.
  3. Watched the next flush of pitchers for color and tip health.

The sweet spot turned out to be a moderate PPFD with a long, gentle photoperiod — enough for color, not so much that tender tips scorch.
